Outlook Plug-in
for the VailNet MailFilter

Installing the Outlook Plug-in

Open https://webspam.vail.net in your web browser, below the username and password fields is a “Get Mail Client Plugins Here” link.

When you click on the link, a new window will open with a Download Now button

Click the Download Now button and Save the outlook_plugin.exe file to your computer in a convenient location, such as your Desktop

Now run the outlook_plugin.exe program by double clicking it

If you get a security warning, click Run

It will ask if you wish to install the Barracuda Networks Outlook Plug-in, click Yes

[Welcome] Click Next

[Information] Click Next and the plug-in will now install

Click Finish and if you had Outlook open when you installed the plug-in you will need to close and reopen Outlook

When you open Outlook you should see a red and a green envelope icon on the right side of your toolbar

 


Using the Outlook Plug-in

Submitting Spam Messages
If you have one or more spam messages you wish to train the Bayesian learning filter on, select the message(s), then click on the red envelope. The message(s) will be sent to the Barracuda for learning and will be moved to your Deleted Items folder.

Submitting Good Emails
Similar to submitting spam, select the good email message(s), then click on the green envelope. Again, a copy of the message(s) will be sent to the Barracuda, but your message(s) will stay in their current folder.
