Setup Instructions for Mac OS 8 & 9 Dialup

The MAC OS has a simplifed Dialup configuration. However, if you have any questions or problems please call 970-949-3318 or write support@vail.net.

1.) Click on your apple in the upper left hand corner of your machine and go to the Control Panel and select TCP/IP. Enter your settings from the information below:

Connect via: PPP

Configure: Using PPP server
When you select, " PPP server," from the pull-down menu, IP address, subnet and Router info will automatically change to, "...supplied by server."

Name server address.: 65.38.128.2(hit Return) and 65.38.128.3

Search domains: vail.net

2.) Close the window and save your changes.

3.) Go back to the apple-Control Panel and select Remote Access (sometimes called PPP in earlier versions). Change your settings to reflect the information supplied below:

Name: Your username (all lower case: this consists of the name before the @ in your address. ex.: username@vail.net or username@colorado.net).

Password: Enter the password you selected in this field.

Save Password: Checking this box saves your password for future connections. You must connect successfully for the password to save for the next session.

Number: 949-3203. *If you have call waiting and wish to disable this function while online (so you can receive phone calls), simply type, "*70," before the phone number in this window. Receiving a call while online with call waiting disabled will terminate your present Internet connection.

4.) You have now completed the basic set up for your account. Selecting the Connect button will dial your modem and connect you to the Internet. After connecting, open your favorite browser and surf the Web. When you close this window at the end of your session, make sure you save your changes
