Setup Instructions for Windows 2000 Dialup

This section helps you configure your Windows 2000 computer for the Internet. If you have any questions concerning configuration on a Windows95 & 98 machine, please email us at support@vail.net or call 970-949-3318.

1.) Click the Start button, select Settings, then choose Control Panel.

2.) Double-click the Network and Dial-up Connections icon.

3.) Double-click the Make New Connection icon.

4.) Click the Next button.

5.) Select Dial-up to the Internet.

6.) Click the Next button.

7.) Select, "I want to set up my Internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a
local area network (LAN). "

8.) Click the Next button.

9.) Select "I connect through a phone line and a modem."

10.) Click the Next button.

11.) In the Area Code field, type: 970.

12.) In the Telephone number field, type: 949-3203.

13.) Click the Advanced button.

a.) Click on the Addresses tab and then select the IP address option

b.) Click the "Always use the following," button in the DNS server address field.

c.) In the Primary DNS server box, type 65.38.128.2

d.) In the Alternate DNS server box, type 65.38.128.3.

e.) Click the OK button.

14.) Click the Next button.

15.) In the User name field, type your username. Be sure to enter your username lower case
(your username consists of everything before @vail.net/@colorado.net/@mountainmax.net).

16.) In the Password field, type your password in lower case.

17.) Click the Next button.

18.) In the Connection Name field, type VailNet.

19.) Click the Next button.

20.) Click the Yes button in the "Do you want to set up an Internet mail account now?" area.

21.) Click the Next button.

22.) In the Display Name field, type your name.

23.) Click the Next button.

24.) In the E-mail address field, type your email address in lower case. Your email address
consists of your username@vail.net or username@colorado.net.

25.) Click the Next button.

26.) Click the down arrow box from the "My incoming mail server," window and choose POP3.

a.) In the Incoming mail server field, type mail.vail.net if you have a vail.net address, or type
mail.colorado.net if you have a colorado.net eddress.

b.) In the Outgoing mail server field, type mail.vail.net if you have a vail.net address, or type
mail.colorado.net if you have a colorado.net eddress. Clients with a MountainMax email address should use mail.mountainmax.net.

27.) Click the Next button.

28.) In the Account name field, type your username in lower case.

a.) In the Password field, type your password in lower case.

b.) Check the box next to Remember password if you would like to have your password saved.

29.) Click the Next button.

30.) Check "To connect to the Internet immediately," to presently connect to the Internet.
31.) Click the Finish button and you have completed your setup.
