Setup
Instructions for Windows 95 & 98 (DHCP)
DHCP
(Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) allow many of our high-speed
clients to setup and add computers quickly and easily. Following
the instructions below will configure your Windows95 or 98 computer
for DHCP. If you have any problems or questions please write support@vail.net

Your
computer may prompt you for the Win95 or 98 CD during the configuration.
This is the disk that was used to install the Windows 95 or 98 operating
system.
1.)
Double-click on My Computer.
2.)
Double-click on Control Panels.
3.)
Double-click on the Internet or Internet Options icon
4.)
Select the Connection tab (* If you do not have a Connection tab,
see 6*)
5.)
There are two possible version of the Connection tab. If you have
a LAN Settings button in the lower-right corner, do the following;
Click
on the LAN Settings button and uncheck any boxes in this window.
Click OK.
Then place a dot (click) next to the text that reads, "Never
dial a connection".
Click OK.
6.) If you do not have the LAN settings button please do the following;
Put
a check next to the text that reads, "I connect to the Internet
through a LAN".
Click OK.
If you do not have a Connection tab, you will probably have an Auto-Dial
tab.
Select this tab and uncheck the box for "Use Auto-Dial".
7.)
After clicking OK you should be back in the Control Panels, double-click
on the Network icon.
8.)
Double-click on TCP/IP->Ether( brand of your network card).
9.)
Click OK on the information dialog box if one appears.
10.)
Select the WINS Configuration tab:
Select
"Use DHCP for WINS Resolutions".
11.)
Click OK, and click ok again.
12.)
When prompted to restart your computer, say Yes.
Once
the computer restarts open up Internet Explorer or Netscape Communicator.
